Steven out of the band ? If "out" is the right word..
Hmmm.. not a good thing. Of course the idea of a double-bass sounds great, but 90 % of the AATT-bass lines will be very difficult to do on a double-bass when it comes to playing live. Well, at least a lot of them. A double-bass can do wonders in it`s own way, but the el-bass has much mor attack to it - which is needed for so many AATT songs. But let`s see. Maybe SB returns for gigs or maybe this new guy plays el-bass for the old songs. Or maybe the old songs could be re-arranged ? But still...Lucy og Slow Pulse as light-felt and laidback songs ?

SB out is not good.
Siouxsie & Budgie without Severin is not the banshees it it the creatures so is aatt without SB really aatt? or just Jones brothers & session players. maybe i sould wait before judgement but without these bass lines I cant imagine it can be the same again.
does anyone know Stevens impression of this news?
Ian Jenkins (Eza) has been the live bass player on last year summer festivals and while I love how Steven brings in his unique dynamic to the AATT live shows in my opinion Ian did his part quiet well on the songs performed.
Also remember Paul is now for almost ten years an integral part of the band & the sound they create (which specially FFTT is evidence for).
Even while Steven cannot take part in the current AATT album project musically, please note Simon also mention that "we will work together again". So for all of us thinking that SB' contribution to AATT is an essential part of the band there is good reason to keep faith that Steven will contribute his el-bass lines to another band project again in the future ...
As yourself I'll surly miss Steven on the next album deeply but I'm also curious what new facets the use of double bass will bring to the AATT sound...
I think we should have faith in what sound the boys come up with next. Please keep up your credit and support for SB & at the same time please give Ian a chance to play part.

So let us trust in the Trees' usual good taste. For those who don't: consider what the alternative would have been: no new album at all...

I think that it is vey important to stay open-minded. Personally I was very sorry to hear that Nick left back then. He was/is one of the best pop/rock drummers I have ever heard.
Still Paul gives something that wasen`t here before. A new touch, something different to listen to, a new voice. I really like his playing and personality in the band, and maybe with Eza it will be the same. No-one can be a new Steven, but that is not the point. A new member should bring whatever HE has to the band. All odds are against AATT still going on - but yet they do. Let`s have some faith in them as Frank says. And let`s be happy that they go on - in whatever form they choose to.
